Statement on Chapel Hill Shootings

New York, February 11, 2015 – The Peace Islands Institute (PII) strongly condemns the slaying of the three Muslim students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is heartbreaking to see the loss of young, innocent lives and to see the assault on peace and tolerance we so cherish in the U.S. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.

We urge the state and federal authorities to investigate the motives behind these killings. We also urge the media to show the same level of sensitivity for crimes against Muslims as it does otherwise.
