As PII, we are deeply saddened by the unfortunate events that recently appalled our nation, and we mourn for the innocent individuals and for the officers who were killed while doing their sacred duties for the people of this country.

Gun violence has been the main reason for many tragedies lately, and as the PII our hearts go to the families and communities who have suffered devastating losses. As President Obama stated “This is not just a black issue, not just a Hispanic issue. This is an American issue. All fair-minded people should be concerned.”

We firmly believe, the claim that racial bias against the African-American community plays a role in law enforcement officers’ approach must be inquired, so that such tragedies may be prevented before happening.

The fact that there may be some officers in the Police Force who are careless in their treatment of people of color cannot shadow the heroism that they profess in their doing duty. As a nation, we have travelled a long way and must do better to institute the best practices that will reduce the reality of racial bias in every aspect of life in this country.

As PII, we hope to see that the divisiveness between some of the people of our country and our police force stops as soon as possible. Our nation must stand as one.
