Peace Islands Institute Condemns Terrorist Attack in Egypt, Sends Condolences to Cairo

Peace Islands Institute condemns the horrendous terrorist attack that took place at the Coptic Christian cathedral in Cairo, Egypt, on December 11, killing 25 people and injuring 49, most of whom were women and children.

These attacks represent crimes against humanity and are assaults on the sanctity of life. We condemn the attack in Cairo – and all other terrorist attacks, whether they target Christians, Muslims, Jews or any other innocent people – in the strongest terms. We urge citizens around the world to stand in solidarity against these nefarious acts of violence, and urge international organizations to unite in the fight against terrorism.

Finally, we are deeply saddened by the attack and express our condolences for the families of the victims and for the people of Egypt. We hope for a speedy recovery of those who were wounded, and we pray that God gives them patience and perseverance during this tragic time.

Peace Islands Institute is a New York-based non-profit organization that promotes mutual respect and collaboration among members of world’s faith communities. Sheikh Fethullah Gulen is the honorary president of the Institute.
