Peace Island Institute organized iftar dinner on the 1st day of Ramadan at its location in Rochester. Many guests from different religions, ethicities and backgrounds shared the peace, joy and the spirit of Ramadan. The Ramadan presentation about fasting, left the guests with curiosity. After the evening prayer, guests ate the first iftar dinner of Ramadan with Muslim believers.
Brighton Town Supervisor, Bill Moehle and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Commander, David Phelps also attended to the dinner. They shared their opinions about the event and Ramadan. In his speech Bill Moehle, pointed out the 9 people killed in church shooting on North Carolina as a result of hate crime. Moehle, also indicated the significance of these events that builds bridges and helps us to understand each other better.
