6th Annual Abraham Interfaith Lunch
Peace Islands Institute was invited to Chatham United Methodist Church for the 6th Annual Abraham Interfaith Lunch. The Executive Director of Embrace Relief, Osman Dulgeroglu, and one of the PII committee members gave a talk on refugees and asylum seekers, and those who welcome them. The speeches were followed by a wonderful lunch provided by both the church and the PII community.
On September 26, 2018, Drew University CRCC department organized a panel moderated by Rabbi Ron Kronish on peace. From Peace Islands Institute, Dr.Yurt provided the Muslim perspective on peace. Drew University students as well as faculty attended the panel and shared food during the Q&A portion.
Peace Islands Institute hosted Bergen County Prosecutor, Gurbir S. Grewal for a discussion on the roles of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office on November 5th, 2017. Grewal served as Bergen County Prosecutor and dedicated his time to develop and launch approaches made to resolve the opioid and heroin crisis. He also initiated a Community Affairs Unit, which worked in helping to enhance the relationship between the community and the local police.
