On April 14, PII Center for Interfaith, in association with Drew University’s Center on Religion, Culture and Conflict, hosted a forum to discuss “Religion as a Source of Peace.” The gathering was part of PII’s ongoing “Abraham’s Table” luncheon series, which addresses a range of topics of interfaith dialogue and local/international peace outreach efforts.
Featured speakers at the inter-religious forum included Imam W. Deen Shareef of Masjid Waarith ud Deen, Rabbi Jesse Olitzky of Congregation Beth El and Reverend Christa Compton of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Jonathan M. Golden, Ph.D., associate professor at Drew University and the director of the Center on Religion, Culture and Conflict, served as the moderator for the event.
The panel discussion was followed by group discussions created within the audience. Every group tackled the questions relative to the topic. Some of the questions included, “What messages of peace and/or justice do you draw from your faith and value system”.
