As the Peace Islands Institute, we are deeply saddened by the terror attack on U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey on February 1, 2013 where a Turkish security guard was killed and a journalist was injured.

condelencesAs Peace Islands Institute we condemn the Benghazi attack in Libya that killed  US ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other US citizens . Such violence can not be justified with any reason, and committed against not only to USA, but also to all humankind.We offer our condolences to our nation and to the families of those who lost their lives in this brutal attack.

Condolences for The Shooting in Wisconsin

condelencesAs The Peace Islands Institute, we were deeply saddened to learn of the shooting that tragically took so many lives in Wisconsin. This is not only an act of extreme violence; it is also an act of evil.  Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Oak Creek Sikh community. Our prayers and condolences go out to those killed and injured, and we share the grief of everyone affected by this senseless event.

Monsignor Georges Marovitch, a former Vatican diplomatic official in Turkey, passed away on Thursday March 22, 2012.

funeral-wreath-green-whiteMarovitch was a prominent figure in İstanbul and was known for his great efforts to encourage intercultural and interreligious dialogue. He attended several meetings throughout the 1990s and 2000s to improve relations between different religious communities in Turkey.

We offer our condolences to the Catholic world and interfaith community.
