The Center for Interfaith affairs at PII hosted a dinner to honor Seon Master Jinje, Supreme Patriarch of the Jogye order of Korean Budhism .
After a brief introduction of the PII and the event by the director of the center for interfaith affairs Ibrahim Sayar, audience enjoyed the video presentation of PII. Later Rabbi Jack Bemporad, executive director of the center for religious understanding, introduced Master Jinje to the participants.
Master Jinje gave a speech on establishing world peace from the Buddhist perspective. He shared his appreciation to be able to share his thoughts with people from different traditions. He emphasized on finding our true self and explained how it is done in Ganwha Seon practice. Finding ones true self is the only way to establish inner and world peace. Master Jinje finished his speech underlining the fact that there no difference between man among themselves and the creation.
Murat Kaval the CEO of PII gave Master Jinje a gift to commemorate this night. Participants enjoyed a wonderful dinner after program.
About Master Jinje:
Seon Master Jinje(1934~) is the greatest living master of Seon Buddhism secluded in Korea. He is revered as one of the preeminent Buddhist teachers in the world. He was born in 1934 in Korea, and became a monk when he was 19 years old, fully enlightened at the age of 33 and stands in the 79th Patriarch in the direct lineage of the Great Buddha. He is a renowned teacher of meditation, a living sage skilled in the ancient practices of the Seon lineage that was transmitted from India to China and then to Korea. Seon Master Jinje is one of the only Enlightened Great Masters of Ganhwa Seon alive today. Seon (Zen) flourishes on the Korean peninsula, with thousands of monks and nuns following a rigorous schedule of daily meditative practice in hundreds of mountain monasteries.
