As the Peace Islands Institute, we celebrated Eid al Adha / Kurban Bayrami (Feast of Sacrifice)with mixed feelings of joy and anxiety due to Hurricane Sandy.

As usual, Bayram is celebrated with big fests throughout New Jersey. Feast of Sacrifice is the time when Muslims sacrifice an animal (Lamb,Goat or Cattle), in remembrance of our Forefather Abraham, to donate most of its meat to the needy. It is a festival with many social aspects: the pilgrimage, the sacrifice of an animal, remembering and helping the needy, and the reunion of visiting relatives, friends, and neighbors.

During the holy holiday of “Bayram” October 24th-27th. The Peace Islands Institute paid visits to local Food Pantries to donate fresh meat to celebrate this festival to help build and serve our communities.

The Peace Islands donated and distributed fresh meat to each of the following Food Pantries.
