As the PeaceIslands Institute we were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the devastating tornado, whichcaused such destruction and loss of life in Moore, Oklahoma.
Friendship Gathering: Zion Lutheran Church
April 21st 2013, Zion Lutheran Church hosted the Peace Islands Institute in a Friendship Gathering. Mr. Ebubekir Cimen, PII representative, spoke about PII and its programs. He spoke about friendship gatherings because of its influence and great impact on mutual understanding that builds long-lasting friendships.
Abraham's Table: Caldwell College
April 17th, Caldwell College hosted the Peace Islands Institute in an Abrahams Table themed “5 myths or misunderstandings of our faith tradition”. Harun Alacadag head of Interfaith Relations of the Peace Islands Institute spoke on the topic.
PII Condolences to Boston Victims
We, Members of Peace Islands Institute are truly shocked and appalled by the news that just came regarding the explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. We express our condolences for the families and loved ones of the three victims and at least 150 injured from the explosions.
5th Annual, Value of Women in our Community
Peace Islands Institute (PII) and JFK Pastoral Care Department organized its 5th Annual Program, Value of Women in Our Community, with this year’s theme of Contributions of Women to Visual Arts. Recognition awards were presented to local women artists: Linda LaStella, ceramic artist, and Bingul Sevimli, Ebru artist.
