On April 29, 2016, PII Center for Interfaith Affairs organized Islamic – Jewish Interfaith Dialogue Dinner with a goal of creating more understanding and building bridges between people of different faiths. Representatives from the Peace Islands Institute joined the community of Temple Ner Tamid of Bloomfield.
The evening began with an interfaith Shabbat service and followed with a presentation from the PII where Meryem Teke of PII delivered the remark on behalf of PII. The Shabbat service was lead by Rabbi Kushner and Cantor Greenberg. During the service, PII several PII members shared two different verses from the Quran, recited in Arabic, Turkish and English.
The evening continued with dinner where all the guests from PII and members of the Temple Ner Tamid congregation chatted for hours, forming personal connections.
It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
